Dofus is a turn-based MMORPG game that began in France and has since spread rapidly around the world. The video game was so successful that it spawned a number of spin-off video games including Wakfu, which continues the story of the Dofus universe. Set in the realm of the Twelve (known as after the 12 gods of the game world) the selection of environments and classes are also one of the extremely attractive elements of Dofus. Character customization is particularly impressive with many options available from the start, allowing you to feel more unique than other MMO experiences. This graphical customization combines well with the use of over a dozen character classes, most of which are incredibly unique and difficult to understand, giving players plenty of room to grow by creating new characters that belong to the more challenging character classes. Classes include ranged attackers, warriors, summoners, healers, treasure hunters, thieves and more.
Wakfu
Wakfu is a turn-based MMORPG and the sequel to Dofus from Ankama Games. After 1000 years, players take on the role of the chosen one and must defeat an ogre named Ogrest. Choose from 16 classes, each with a distinguished tactical approach to combat, and use 25 abilities to defeat enemies. Combat takes place in a turn-based, square battlefield where players and enemies strategically use their moves to defeat each other. The world of Wakfu is alive with player interaction. Various resources are replenished only through player input, for example by planting seeds to harvest thistles. A dynamic weather system is used to grow crops. At level 15, players enter the turbulent political climate of Wakfu, joining one of the four nations and adhering to its laws handed down by a player-governor, with elections held every two weeks.
Dofus Touch
Dofus Touch is a free mobile strategy MMORPG developed by Ankama Games for iOS and Android platforms. It features all-new touch controls developed specifically for mobile devices, space-saving optimized map downloads, has no subscription fees, and notably does not sync with the original game, meaning players must create new, separate characters. Meet fierce creatures, bosses, and players in search of the legendary dragon eggs. Play as fifteen distinct classes ranging from the stealthy Sram to the drunken Pandawa, each with their own abilities, strengths and roles. Fight through 200 levels of content, across multiple maps, dungeons and cities, and build your character to his or her potential in a variety of game modes that span PvE and PvP.
Krosmaga
Krosmaga is a skillful strategy game in which players invite heroes from the Wakfu and Dofus universe to battle it out on a lane-based playing field. Play as one of 12 Krosmaga gods, each with their own unique set of cards, minions and spells, with their own tactical approaches to gameplay. Players summon units into an alley and must send their minion across the field to destroy the opponent's Dofus. But beware: players summon their own warriors and use magic to stop you. You can train, learn which cards to summon when and how, by playing against the AI or by wandering through dungeons. When you're ready, challenge other players in the unranked or ranked game, and show off your skills. Collect an ever-growing catalog of new cards, customize your own decks, and wage war as one of the Krosmaga gods.
World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft is widely considered the gold standard of the MMORPG genre. The game offers players a complete experience from start to finish with well-written quest lines, responsive combat, a huge game world to explore, end-game raids, and much more. The game was originally released in 2004, but since its initial release, the game has benefited from numerous expansion packs, each of which introduced a lot of new content into the game and continued to raise the level cap. Those looking for a solid fantasy MMORPG experience should give World of Warcraft a shot. The game even has an unlimited time free trial with a 20 level cap.
RuneScape
RuneScape is a medieval fantasy MMORPG developed and published by Jagex Game Studios. It is one of the oldest MMORPGs with new players continually entering the world of Gelinor. Rather than actively allocating skill points, players gain skills by performing actions, such as the ability to mine more efficiently is increased by harvesting ore in a quarry. As skill levels increase, players have easier access to raw materials or use more combat abilities. With 26 skills, there are many ways to play and players have complete control over their play style. A classless skill system means there are no limits on the type of character players can become. Become a warrior by killing fearsome monsters or chop down trees to build your own home. Collaborate with other adventurers to fight bosses or test your skills in player vs. player combat.
